Hello Ganesh - were you referring to another video? The timestamps you referenced are past the end of this video. I believe there is another video where we shut down the source to show what happens during a scheduled/unscheduled reboot after final cutover has been performed, you're absolutely correct. Prior to final cutover and reboot, there is no need to shut down anything. We just continue to redirect the I/O's indefinitely until you can schedule the downtime, and even then it can be a matter of less than a minute potentially. @@ganeshchichakar4245 Thanks for clarifying - yes, we are just going onward to perform what we begin to explain at 11:47 - "if there is a scheduled or unscheduled reboot of the host, the CMC agent will detect this condition and will no longer use cMotion for redirection - instead, the destination storage will automatically become the production volume, and the original EBS volume will be locked and no longer accessible. We'll proceed to demonstrate the future transition of running the workload on the new storage without redirection..." Sorry for any confusion. To reiterate, you could continue to run in cMotion indefinitely, with no downtime.

Thanks for asking. Best practice for most critical applications is that they are clustered for high availability. In these instances, migrations using DMS will achieve zero downtime. If you for some reason have a critical app running as a single machine with no high-availability, then you would only need a couple of minutes of downtime to re-map the client to its new data and/or boot LUN. Or you could always migrate to the new storage and defer the downtime until later with our pMotion technology. DMS pMotion allows non-clustered servers to cut over the workload to the new storage to enjoy better performance and more features without waiting for downtime. The older storage can be decommissioned to avoid extending maintenance or lease. It is not uncommon for our customers to use pMotion to eliminate the above pain points, keeping the DMS appliance in the stand-in mode for months to emulate the old storage identity to defer the downtime.
